The 8th International Conference “Regulation of Radiofrequency Spectrum Use” («SPECTRUM-2008»)

The 8th International Conference “Regulation of Radiofrequency Spectrum Use” («SPECTRUM-2008») was held in Olghinka, Krasnodar Territory, on October 6-10, 2008. The Conference was organized by the RF Ministry of Communications and Mass Media.The Conference dealt with vital issues of state policy on regulation of radiofrequency spectrum use, development of new normative acts in this sphere, conversion of radiofrequency spectrum in Russia, and radiofrequency spectrum usage pattern for radio communication, broadcasting and telecasting networks. A particular emphasis was placed upon the issue of electromagnetic compatibility under introduction of new radio technologies.
The “Spectrum-2008” Conference was attended by the executives of the Ministry of Communications, Defense Ministry, Federal Supervisory Service for Telecommunications and Mass Media and its territorial bodies, Radiofrequency Service, and representatives of operators and other spectrum users, industry research centers, design institutes, educational institutions and manufacturers of telecommunication equipment.
The representatives of the RANS Regional Branch «Information and Telecommunications Technologies» took part in the “Spectrum-2008” Conference. V.G. Skrynnikov, Doctor of Science (Engineering), Corresponding Member of the RANS and Head of RANS ITT WG5, made a report on “900/1800 MHz Frequency Bands for UMTS Networks in Russia”.
