International Forum “INTERCOM-2008. Future Infocommunications” organized by International Conferences Company was held in St. Petersburg (Russia) on November 20-21, 2008.
More than 50 delegates from 5 countries (Israel, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Great Britain and Russia) took part in the Conference. They represented St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, leading developers and service providers (CJSC Gars Telecom, Sedicom ltd., Netris ltd., NDS, Mobex), operators (OJSC Rostelecom, OJSC SMARTS, CJSC AIST, OJSC Dalsvyaz, CJSC WEST CALL LTD, etc.), consulting and scientific centers (RANS Branch «Information and Telecommunications Technologies», RosBusinessConsulting, CJSC Modern Telecommunications, WiMAX Forum, etc.), as well as mass media («T-Comm», «Operator», «Cableman» , «ÑomNews», «Soedinyayu» journals, radio station Echo of Moscow, etc.).
INTERCOM-2008 was devoted to the issues of wireless and fixed communications market development. The Conference dealt with the following topics: replacement of GSM/CDMA by WiFi and WiMAX innovative technologies on the wireless communications market, mobile or fixed WiMAX option for manufacturers and operators, ïðîáëåìû effective use of radiofrequency spectrum under introduction of advanced technologies, utilization of WAPECS spectrum on the basis of service and technological neutrality, competition on the broadband access market and its regional aspect, as well as IPTV and digital television.
Over 20 reports were presented at the Conference.
