The XXIV ISPIM Conference – Innovating in Global Markets: Challenges for Sustainable Growth

On June 16-19, 2013, the XXIV ISPIM Conference – Innovating in Global Markets: Challenges for Sustainable Growth took place in Helsinki, Finland.

Society for Professional Innovation Management and hosted by Aalto University School of Business in partnership with Lappeenranta University of Technology, brought together around 500 innovation experts from 50 countries: academics, business leaders, consultants and other professionals involved in innovation management. The conference format included facilitated themed sessions for academic and practitioner presentations together with interactive workshops and discussion panels.

The conference sub-themes by the submissions from academics, consultants and managers on innovation-related topics focused on the following topics:

    • Innovation for Sustainable Growth (Conference Focus Theme)
    • Business Models, Entrepreneurship & Financing Innovation
    • Collaboration for Innovation (incl. Open Innovation)
    • Creativity & Idea Generation

    • Innovation Training, Teaching & Coaching
    • Living LabsMethods, Tools & Measurement for Innovation
    • Networks & Clusters of Innovation
    • Strategic Foresight, Strategic Agility & Future Orientation
    • Transferring Knowledge for Innovation

The 3-day programme included: The Knut Holt Memorial Address; Keynote & Luminary Speakers; Innovation for Business Sessions with speakers from companies such as Volvo, Swarovski, Bombardier, Grundfos, Google, IBM, Hewlett Packard, KLM; KONE Corporation plus many more. "Hot Topic" Roundtable Discussions; Facilitated Themed Sessions with Academic and Practitioner Presentations; Workshops; Special Interest Groups; Academic Research Development Sessions. As with all ISPIM events, delegates experienced a taste of local culture at magnificent dinner venues, so there was plenty of time for networking.

Two hundred eighty reports and presentations were present and can be divided into sessions:

- scientific, representing results of researches of efficiency of business models of innovative activity, ways of the organization of innovative community and its motivation, and also discussion of questions about preparation of young specialists.

- practical, showing best practicians of innovative management of the leading world companies, such as Ericsson, Deutsche Telekom, Nokia Siemens Networks, Vodafone, Microsoft, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Dell.

Demonstrations in the leading innovative companies of Finland (Rovio Entertainment, Kone Corporation, Aalto Design Factory, Startup Sauna, Urban Mill and TIVIT) for acquaintance with the advanced infrastructure and the organization of working process were organized in the final day of conference.

ITT RAEN foreign member Dr. Julius Golovatchev (Detecon Consulting/ Deutsche Telekom Group, Bonn, Germany) participated on the conference with full academic paper and the presentation “Conceptual model for design and management smart energy products”.
