Regional Workshop for CIS on LTE Mobile Communication Networks: Technologies and Practice organized by ITU's Telecommunication Development Bureau took place on March 3-5, 2014 in Institute for Advanced Studies and Training Centers (established on the basis of MTUCI jointly with leading telecommunications companies of the world).

More than 50 representatives of ministries and departments, regulators, research organizations (FSUE NIIR, OJSC «Intellect Telecom», ITT RAEN, KNRTU-KAI), telecommunications operators (OJSC “MTS", OJSC «Rostelecom»,  OJSC «Osnova Telecom», OJSC «ALTEL»  and others), investment companies (LLC «Icominvest”), universities (MTUCI, IITU, Nazarbayev University) participated in the seminar.

Leading telecommunications experts from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Poland, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan had shared experiences in building the 4G wireless network, commercialization and further development for mutual knowledge exchange.

Main topics discussed at the seminar were:

• Spectrum for mobile broadband;
• Core technology and architecture of LTE networks;
• Planning and optimization of LTE network;
• Management and assurance of quality of service over LTE/LTE Advanced networks;
• Planning & EMC of LTE networks;
• State of the Russian market of LTE;
• LTE-network monetization;
• SDN and HetNet technologies;
• Conceptual aspects of 5G networking.
