The IVth International Conference “Mobile and wireless technologies. Trends and perspectives” (4teleconf.plp7.ru) took place at the Bonch-Bruevich Saint - Petersburg State University of Telecommunications with support of Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation on May 24-25, 2016. The Conference was organized by the Training Center "23rd Century", SPbSUT and the Internet portal 1234G.ru.

More than 50 companies including the representatives of governmental and regulatory bodies, carriers, 4G and 5G network equipment manufacturers, system integrators and equipment distributors, financial and investment companies, consulting firms, mobile retailers, content and service providers, mass media, scientific staff, students and teachers of SPbSUT participated in the Conference. More than 30 experts presented their reports on key aspects of the development of mobile and wireless communication networks. Students of SPbSUT presented their research results.

The grand opening of a modern training LTE laboratory in SPbSUT based on Nokia's equipment was held at the beginning of the Conference. This laboratory will contribute to the improvement of the educational process and will allow students to learn working with modern telecommunication equipment.

Presentations on topics of scientific and applied research in the field of modern and future mobile communication networks were made in the first section of the Conference, which was called "The Future of Telecom. Innovation + Knowledge". Nokia and National Instruments presented their educational programs.

Security issues of mobile and wireless networks and data privacy issues were discussed in the second section "Telecom and Security" with taking into account the development of communication networks and their growing use in various industries.

The third section of the Conference "Telecom and Business" was dedicated to the trends and prospects of development of mobile communication, as well as trends of the development of Internet TV and Internet radio.

Speakers of the fourth "Technology" section reported on the directions of technological development of future 5G communication networks and tools of innovation processes management under implementation of 5G networks and services in Russia.

The final fifth section that was called "Information age" was dedicated to M2M and IoT communications, standardization, the use of telecommunication technologies in different spheres of economy.

The participants of the Conference noted a high level of the event organization and the value of the information received. Moreover, they expressed a desire to participate in the next year conference.
